Wilston is a quiet, leafy inner city suburb located 3.4km north of the Brisbane CBD. Wilston is known for its character homes and cafe culture. The suburbs of Herston, Kelvin Grove, Newmarket, Alderley, Grange, Lutwyche and Windsor border Wilston.

The population of Wilston in 2011 was around 3,866 and continues to grow. 63% of households in Wilston are owner occupied and consist predominantly of professional couples with children.

Wilston Village, the suburb’s main shopping and cafe precinct, is located in Kedron Brook Road. A larger supermarket is only a few minutes’ drive away in neighbouring Newmarket.

Wilston train station is centrally located within walking distance from most areas of Wilston. Trains provide quick and convenient access to the Brisbane CBD.

The area is home to a number of great private and public schools including St Columba’s Primary School and Wilston State School.

There are several parks, sports grounds and green spaces along Enoggera Creek in the southern part of the suburb. Wilston is also close to the Kedron Brook Bikeway located north of the suburb providing many kilometres of bicycle and walking paths. A very popular dog off-leash area is also located along Kedron Brook.

Enoggera Creek Bikeway is used by many local residents to commute to the city.

Wilston Properties

An area known as Wilston Hill (located north of the train line) is the most desirable part of Wilston. Homes in this area have elevated suburban and city views.

Traffic noise can be an issue for properties close to major thoroughfares including Newmarket Road and Kedron Brook Road. Buyers should check the Brisbane City Council Flood Maps, as some areas (particularly south of the train line and closest to Enoggera Creek) are susceptible to flooding.
